Reading and Prayer – Wednesday, April 6

Today continues a set of readings on a prayer of King David.

1 Chronicles 29:13-15

13 “O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name! 14 But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us! 15 We are here for only a moment, visitors and strangers in the land as our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without a trace.

O Lord, our God, let us from this moment on praise you with all that we are. In all that we do, and with all that we are, may we give thanks to you. We cannot give you anything that is not already yours. Anything we offer is only to return what you first gave to us.

Help us to remember how brief our lives are, that we would make good use of our days. Do not let us get caught up in worthless things that keep us from you. Help us to spend our time on things that will not pass away, but will continue into eternity.

We love you!
