Reading and Prayer: Thursday, December 31

Genesis 1:6-8

And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

Dear God, today is the last day of the year 2020. Lord, this was a difficult year. Each of us has felt the effects of the COVID pandemic and our hearts cry out to you for healing, vaccines, and a return to some sense of normalcy. Lord, you ordain each of our days. I pray that we can look back on this year and name the many blessings you have given to us. May we move forward into the new year knowing that our whole world belongs to You. As our world continues to face this pandemic, we may see and recognize your healing hand at work – your Sovereignty over all things.  Amen.
