Reading and Prayer – October 13

Psalm 39:12-13

12 Hear my prayer, O Lord!
Listen to my cries for help!
    Don’t ignore my tears.
For I am your guest—
    a traveler passing through,
as my ancestors were before me.
13 Leave me alone so I can smile again
before I am gone and exist no more.

O Lord,

Thank you that you hear our prayers. Even in those moments where we feel that we are just crying out to the ceiling. Even in those moments where it seems that our prayers aren’t being answered. We thank you that we can be honest in our prayers to you, and that we don’t need to pretend that everything is okay. Thank you that the way we feel doesn’t change who you are. You promise that you won’t ignore us, and that your love will never fail.

In those times where we feel that everything around us is more than we can take, have mercy on us. Give us comfort when we cry out to you. Help us to turn to you even when we don’t feel like it. In those times where we feel hopeless, please give us hope. There is no one else who can satisfy and comfort us like you can. Thank you.

Amen
