Reading and Prayer – Monday November 16

I need an antidote to TV, the Internet, and the messages of aggression, violence, distrust, and falsehood bombarding us from all corners. So did Paul – and this is his remedy:

Philippians 4:8-9

8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, keep me I pray from anxious thoughts. Help me to focus my thought-life on all that is commendable and good and help me to keep the eyes of my heart fixed on Jesus. Help me to make a conscious choice to dwell on those things that are worthy of praise, knowing that the light of Christ and the darkness of all that is evil cannot abide together. This I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.
