Reading and Prayer – May 7

Reading: 2 Corinthians 9:10-11

Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

Almighty God, you have given us grace to pray together.

You have promised that when we gather together in Your name,

Wherever we may be, that you will hear our prayers.

Our Lord, answer our prayers, according to what You know is best for us,

and for others.

We pray for the lonely, the depressed, the oppressed,

the worried, the distraught, the sick, and the grieving.

We pray for the people of our world living in the shadow of Covid,

and the many who are living in its grip. .

We pray for people around the world suffering the calamity of pandemic.

May your help, mercy, love, comfort and joy be with them all.

Lead us to people who are in need, that we may bring comfort, hope,

and tangible response.

Help us, in our generous response to your love, to be your instruments of answered prayer.

We pray for the sick in our congregation, community, and world.

We pray for families near and far.

We pray for those desperate for medical help,

As well as for those giving and receiving treatment.

Hear us as we pray for those who grieve.

Almighty God, Father of all mercies;

Not because we deserve to be, but because of your grace, we are your servants.

Help us to live among one another and to serve you generously in ways that make a difference,

we pray in Jesus name, Amen.
