Reading and Prayer – May 18

Reading:

James 1:19-21

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

Prayer:

We confess, Father, that we have been slow and reluctant

In working for peace, justice, love and unity.

We confess that our actions have often

even worked against these things.

Give us a vision, we pray, of our role in your Kingdom

And of the part each one of us plays.

May we not tire in our work,

But may all our words and deeds proclaim

the peace, justice, love and unity which comes from you

and which Jesus sought to bring to all the world.

Amen.
