First of all, I want to express my appreciation for all those who have contributed readings and prayers over the past 3 weeks. I have been greatly blessed by them! There is a tremendous reservoir of faith among our congregation.
He alone stretches out the heavens
and treads on the waves of the sea.
He is the Maker of the Bear and Orion,
the Pleiades and the constellations of the south.
He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.
These words from Job came to mind as I was gazing in wonder at Comet Neowise this past week. Currently in the northwest sky, under the Big Dipper (or the Bear, as Job knows it), Neowise is a surprise (if temporary) visitor to our night sky. Have you seen it? Take time to look, and as you do, reflect in awe at God’s incredible creation. Job did!
God, who created all that is,
Open our eyes to the wonder of your works, From the colour of the smallest flower, To the intricacy of a hummingbird, From the power of the sea To the breathtaking stretch of a comet’s tail.
And yet, you have made us,
And love us,
And hear us when we pray.
Thank you, Father.
