Reading and Prayer: December 7

December 7: Luke 1:30-33

But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favour with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.”

Prayer: Dear God, we are used to Jesus. We are used to his words and to his story. We lose sight of what a revolutionary change you brought into our world with the gift of Jesus. We lose sight of the Kingdom you established, of which we are so privileged to be a part. Fill our heart, mind and spirit with the amazement which comes from the realisation of how you have come to us in Jesus Christ. Amen.
