Reading and Prayer: December 6

December 6: Luke 1:26-29

In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favoured! The Lord is with you.” Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.

The Second Sunday in Advent – Peace: John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Prayer: Dear God, we thank you for peace – for peace of heart and spirit, which can see us through the most difficult and stressful days – the peace which only you can give. Help us to see that the peace you offer is different that the promises of peace the world gives, and to turn to you, the Prince of Peace, for the only true solution for our lives and our world.
