Reading and Prayer – April 28

Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:16-19

So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.

Prayer:

For the gifts of life, joy, of hope, and love;

for the gifts of peace and forgiveness and the gift of eternity,

we thank you, Father,

We lift our voices to you; and we praise your holy name.

Hear us, Father, as we pray for those who need these gifts

that only you can give.

We pray for those who are sick, and need the gift of life.

We pray for those who are depressed, and need the gift of joy.

We pray for those who despair, and need the gift of hope.

We pray for those who are alone, and need the gift of love.

We pray for those who are distraught, and need the gift of peace.

We pray for those who are sinful, and need the gift of forgiveness.

We pray for those who grieve, and need the gift of eternity.

Amen.
