Daily Reading and Prayer – Sunday October 25

Psalm 100
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Colossians 3:16-17
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and counsel one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Prayer

Our Lord, we thank you for the hope, comfort and joy you have put in our hearts.
We thank you for the many blessings we enjoy; for the comfort of our homes, the assurance of your love, your guidance in uncertain times, your grace, your mercy, your love.
We thank you not only for you blessings, but for the challenges you place before us.
Through your generosity, you have inspired, equipped and challenged us to be generous with all we have, and with all we are.
Through your justice and mercy towards us, you have enabled us to seek and work for justice and mercy within our lives and our world.
Through knowing that you will never let us down, you have given us the confidence to reach out to others, to seek to do the work you have given.
For we know, Lord God, that we do not have to fear whatever might come; we know we are secure in your love.
Help us always, with steady hearts, to live without fear; help us to work against the hurts, pains and evils of our world expecting to overcome.
For as we share extravagantly of your love, as we give freely where there is need, that which we accomplish is eternal.

The needs which surround us on all sides, Lord God; the hurts, the pains, the frustrations, the sufferings, the injustice, the poverty, the grief, we bring before you in prayer.
Hear our silent prayers, O Lord…

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
