Daily Reading and Prayer – Saturday, October 17

Paul is very conscious of his own unworthiness. Remember that he began his career by persecuting the church – even to the point of supervising the death of Stephen! Yet, through God’s grace, he is a new person, with a new mission – spreading the Good News of God’s love in Jesus. It is the same task God has given to us!

Ephesians 3:7-13 – New Living Translation
By God’s grace and mighty power, I have been given the privilege of serving him by spreading the Good News.
Though I am the least deserving of all God’s people, he graciously gave me the privilege of telling people about the endless treasures available to them in Christ. I was chosen to explain to everyone this mysterious plan that God, the Creator of all things, had kept secret from the beginning.
God’s purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. This was his eternal plan, which he carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.

Dear God, at the start of each day, help us to recognize you above all else. Enlighten the eyes of our heart that we might see you, and notice how you’re at work through our lives. Give us wisdom to make the best choices, fill us with a desire to seek after you more than anything else in this world. Let your Spirit and power breathe in us, through us, again, fresh and new. Thank you that you are greater than anything we may face in our day. Thank you that your presence goes with us, and that your joy is never dependent on our circumstances, but it is our true and lasting strength, no matter what we’re up against. We ask that your peace lead us, that it would guard our hearts and minds in you. We ask for your grace to cover our lives this day. We love you Lord…we need you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
