Daily Reading and Prayer submitted by Nancy Sanders
A song of ascents.
1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore
My favourite Psalm is Psalm 121. I heard it in church when I was very young and it touched my heart and I keep going back to it over and over. As a young person it always made me feel safe. Same today.
We come to you this morning oh Lord with the Psalm readers words in our heart. We do lift up our eyes to the hills knowing our help comes from you Lord maker of heaven and earth. We thank you Lord that over the years when young or old we look back and can say yes you were there Lord and helped us through the different situations we were confronted with. It wasn’t always the answer we expected but we put our trust in you Lord. We thank and praise you. We ask that you continue to be our strength in these worrisome times. Keep us safe from despair as we navigate through this pandemic. Amen
